Rose carded a one-over 71 in the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship to finish tied for 22nd place.
Rose was on the bubble to make the second playoff event entering the day, and he got off to an uneven start with a pair or birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey over the first six holes. A one-under back-nine ultimately left him in 55th place in the FedExCup Standings to end his hopes of extending his season. The 44-year-old posted two top-10s but just three top-25s this year.
Rose (undisclosed) is listed in the field for this week's Wyndham Championship.
Rose withdrew prior to the 3M Open after tying for runner-up honors at The Open Championship, but he'll return to action this week at Sedgefield Country Club where he owns two top-10 results in four career appearances.
Rose tied for second place at the Open Championship after a four-under 67 in the final round.
Rose had so much support all week from the crowds as he looked to add a second major championship (2013 U.S. Open) to his resume at age 43. He battled through some of the toughest conditions this week and put together an extremely impressive scrambling performance. Unfortunately he just got beat on Sunday by a better player in Xander Schauffele who played with Rose and shot a flawless 65. This might have been Rose's last best shot to win a major, so there will certainly be some disappointment, but there shouldn't be any negatives to take from this performance. After having to go through Final Qualifying to get to Royal Troon this year, he will now be locked into spots at the Masters and Open Championship next year.
Rose will play in the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon after earning co-medalist honors in Final Qualifying at Burnham & Berrow on Tuesday.
Rose will make his 21st start at the Open Championship after posting rounds of 66-68. His eight-under score was tied by amateur Dominio Clemons for co-medalist honors. Rose has just one top-10 finish in 2024, but that came at the PGA Championship where he finished T6. Rose finished T22 the last time the Open was held at Royal Troon in 2016.
