Matsuyama (back) closed with a four-under 67 on Sunday to finish in a tie for ninth place at the TOUR Championship.
Matsuyama came into the week with some questions after he withdrew from the BMW Championship with a back injury. Matsuyama was certainly playing excellent golf having won the opening leg of the playoffs in Memphis and then was second at the BMW before having to WD prior to the second round. Matsuyama started at 7-under-par as the three seed at the TOUR Championship, but never was able to stay with Scottie Scheffler. Matsuyama will look to rest his body and be ready for the Presidents Cup in a few weeks.

It's unclear if Matsuyama is 100 percent after withdrawing from last week's BMW Championship, but one way or another he will give it a go this week at East Lake.
Matsuyama (back) said his back is feeling around 50 or 60% but thinks he can make it through the TOUR Championship this week, Golf Injury Report on X reports.
Matsuyama withdrew from last week's BMW Championship due to back and knee injuries but will still play this week in the TOUR Championship. He said he thinks he can make it through all four days, but noted that he is focused on being able to play in the Presidents Cup which starts on Sept. 24.
