Matteo Manassero Matteo Manassero
RANK 88 | OWGR 1.36
Manassero fell into a share of fourth place after struggling to a one-over 73 in the final round of the BMW PGA Championship.
Manassero took a three-shot lead into the final round following a nine-under 63 on Saturday. The Italian just was unable to put it together again on Sunday carding three birdies to four bogeys. Manassero looks like he is regaining some of his old form having finished top-six in three of his last four starts. He is now up to fifth in the Race to Dubai standings and will be in the field at the acciona Open de Espana.
Manassero closed with a two-under 69 in the final round to finish in solo third place at the Amgen Irish Open.
Manassero started the final round just one back of leader Rory McIlroy. Both players shot the same score on Sunday, but Rasmus Hojgaard leaped past both of them with a six-under 65. Manassero was gunning for his sixth career win on the DP World Tour. This has been a career-changing year for Manassero who was one of the top amateurs we have ever seen and then completely lost his game for several years. The Italian won earlier this season in South Africa and is now inside the top-10 in the Race to Dubai standings. Manassero is in great position to earn a PGA Tour card for 2025 if he can close out the year solidly on the DP World Tour.
