McIlroy carded a two-day total of nine-over par at the RBC Canadian Open to miss the cut by 12 strokes.
It was a disappointing showing for the two-time event champion, as he followed up an opening round 71 with only two birdies Friday to go along with four bogeys, a double bogey and a quadruple bogey. He struggled mightily with his ball striking, hitting less than half of the fairways while also losing 4.5 strokes on approach for the tournament. McIlroy will head into the U.S. Open at Oakmont coming off his two worst showings of the year.
