Theegala notched a share of sixth place after shooting a one-under 70 in the final round of the 3M Open.
With the leaders not really doing much of anything on Sunday, the door was open for arguably the best player in the field to make a run. Theegala made two birdies in the first six holes, but bogeys on 8 and 9 really killed his momentum. He made two more birdies on the back-nine, but came up well short on his second shot into the par-5 18th and made bogey to push him back to T6. This was the seventh top-10 finish of the year for Theegala and he will enter the FedExCup playoffs inside the top-10 as well.
Theegala carded a one-under 69 on Sunday at the Genesis Scottish Open to finish in a share of fourth place.
Theegala began the final round four shots off the lead and briefly narrowed the gap to two after moving to one-under through five holes, but he never got any closer and settled for the top-5 result. It was a steady week as he shot in the 60s all four rounds and gained shots in every strokes gained category. It's Theegala's fourth top-5 of the year, albeit his first one in nearly three months.
