Morikawa posted a one-under 69 on Sunday at the Genesis Scottish Open to finish in a share of fourth place.
Morikawa started the day four shots back but quickly made up the ground with three birdies in the first six holes to tie the lead. Unfortunately, he struggled thereafter with just one birdie the rest of the way and ultimately settled for the top-5 result. It's his fourth such finish over his last six starts, and he now sits fourth in the FedExCup Standings.
Morikawa fell into a tie for 13th place after a one-under 69 in the final round of the Travelers Championship.
Morikawa was right there in position to make a move on Sunday, but just couldn't find what he needed. He did birdie the opening hole, but his next birdie didn't come until 13 and in between was a bogey and a double-bogey at the par-4 12th. Morikawa will look back on this as a missed opportunity, but he still remains a very strong fourth in the FedExCup standings. He gained strokes across the board, but didn't rank better than 18th in any category. Morikawa is not in the field for next week's Rocket Mortgage Classic after losing in a playoff there last year.
