Straka registered a nine-under 61 in the final round of the Travelers Championship to finish in a tie for 23rd place.
Straka was unable to take advantage of the low scores available on the course until Sunday, where everything clicked for the Austrian. He led the field in SG: Total, Sand Saves and Scrambling on Sunday and found 13 of 14 fairways as he shot up the leaderboard.
Straka shot a 12-over 72 to finish in a tie for the 56th spot in the U.S. Open.
Straka ended the competition with 14 birdies which was tied at 37th and two double bogeys. He registered six birdies as well, which was tied at 65th. It was the second occasion this season where Straka finished outside the top 50 players in any competition. He will play in the upcoming Travelers Championship.
Straka finished in a tie for fifth place at the Memorial Tournament after a four-over 76 in the final round.
Straka shot one of the best rounds of the day on Saturday with a four-under 68, but didn't have the same luck in the final round. Straka did make three birdies, but also had seven bogeys. The highlight of his day was a chip-in birdie on the final hole to secure his third top-five and seventh top-16 finish in his last nine starts. Everything is trending heading to the U.S. Open at Pinehurst next week.
Straka shot a two-over 73 in Round 2 of the PGA Championship to miss the cut at the event.
Straka entered the round at even par, but shot four bogeys to just two birdies while missing the cut at the event. The missed cut was the first since March for Straka who entered the tournament with two top-10 finishes in his previous two events. Straka is in the field for next week's Charles Schwab Challenge.
