McCarthy finished in a share of 26th place at the BMW Championship following his even-par 72 in the final round.
McCarthy entered the week at Castle Pines as the man on the bubble at No. 30 in the FedExCup. He simply did not put together the performance he needed to in the second leg of the playoffs and fell to 35th in the standings and will have to look ahead to 2025 to try to make the TOUR Championship for the first time. McCarthy finishes 2024 with four top-10s, including a runner-up at the Valero Texas Open.
McCarthy posted a two-under 68 on Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship to finish in solo ninth place.
Although reports came out during the tournament that McCarthy was dealing with a torn labrum in his left hip, he showed no signs of being slowed down with three rounds of 68 or better en route to the top-10 result. In his usual form, he was led by his short game as he gained 8.9 strokes around the green and putting combined for the week. McCarthy sits 30th in the FedExCup Standings as he looks to qualify for East Lake for the first time.
McCarthy is dealing with a torn left labrum in his hip, Todd Lewis of The Golf Channel reports.
After Round 1 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, McCarthy currently sits tied in fifth place while shooting four under. It currently appears as if he will continue playing through the injury as it doesn't seem to be affecting his play too much, but he will likely have to take time to heal the injury at some point.
