Mitchell carded a two-day total of two-over at the Black Desert Championship to miss the cut by six strokes.
After nearly winning last week, Mitchell was unable to carry the momentum to Utah, where he struggled mightily in the second round with four bogeys and two double bogeys to badly miss the cut. The normally reliable ball striker lost over four strokes off the tee and on approach combined over the two rounds. The missed cut breaks a stretch of three consecutive top-15s for Mitchell.
Mitchell shot a two-under 70 on Sunday at the Sanderson Farms Championship to finish in a share of third place.
Mitchell had a one stroke lead to start the day but bogeyed the opening hole and quickly lost the lead following a strong start by Beau Hossler. Nevertheless, he found himself tied for the lead heading into the 72nd hole but three-putted from 34 feet to miss out on a playoff between Hossler and eventual champion, Kevin Yu. Mitchell's 27 birdies ranked second for the week as he was led by his all-around play, gaining shots in every strokes gained category. He moves up to 66th in the FedExCup Fall Standings.
Mitchell carded a two-under 70 on Sunday at the Procore Championship to finish 10-under and alone in 12th place.
Mitchell's steady week in Napa included four rounds of 70 or better while averaging five birdies per day, and he ultimately ranked third among the field in SG: Off-the-Tee. He improves four spots to No. 72 in the FedExCup Fall standings, and Mitchell has now gained strokes from tee to green in 13 consecutive measured events dating back to the Valspar Championship in late March.
