Pavon finished in solo fifth place at the U.S. Open after a one-over 71 in the final round.
Amongst some of golf's heavyweights, Pavon put his name right in the mix all week. It started with a three-under 67 on Thursday in which he made two eagles. His putting was terrific ranking fifth in SG: Putting, but he still has some work to do with his wedges around the greens. Overall for a guy that only had DP World Tour status last season, to pick up a first PGA Tour win at Torrey Pines early this season and then put himself in the final pairing on Sunday in a major, he has to be pretty happy where he is at. Pavon will look to keep things rolling at the Travelers Championship.
Pavon shot a six-over 77 in Round 2 of the PGA Championship to miss the cut at the event.
Pavon struggled in both rounds of his tournament combining for an 11-over which included shooting eight bogeys in Round 2. The missed cut was the first since March at THE PLAYERS Championship for Pavon who has now gone four straight tournaments without a top-25 finish. Pavon is not in the field for next week's Charles Schwab Challenge.
