Schauffele had to settle for a share of 13th place after an even-par 70 in the final round of the Travelers Championship.
Schauffele was making putts left and right through the first three rounds leading the field in SG: Putting, but things seem to fall off on Sunday. He made a few good ones early and grabbed a share of the lead after two birdies in the first six holes, but then made bogeys on 7 and 9 and then all pars on the back-nine when the rest of the field were rolling in birdies. Schauffele remains second in the FedExCup standings, but saw the gap get even bigger with Scottie Scheffler picking up his sixth win of the season. Schauffele will take some time off and return for the Scottish Open and then Open Championship in a few weeks.
Schuaffele closed with a two-under 68 on Sunday to finish in a share of seventh place at the U.S. Open.
Schauffele notched his eighth straight top-15 finish at the U.S. Open to begin his career. While it ended up being another strong result, Schauffele was never ever really in the mix and so he will leave Pinehurst with some disappointment following picking up his first major championship win at the PGA Championship last month. Schauffele struggled off the tee, but did rank second for the week in SG: Approach. He's going to be in the mix virtually every week he tees it up, including next week at the Travelers Championship where he has won before.
Schauffele recorded a three-over 75 on Sunday at the Memorial Tournament to finish in a share of eighth place.
Schauffele's highlight in the final round came on the par-5 15th hole, where he was the only player of the day to make an eagle. However, his ball striking wasn't in its usual stellar form as he lost shots from tee to green but led the field for the week in SG: Putting. The T8 result was Schauffele's best finish at Muirfield Village, and he now has six top-10s over his last eight starts.
